and I had NO Experience at ALL!

One of a few instances of interview advice.

Ellen January 27, 2012 at 12:17 pm
YOU should say you are bringing your ENERGY, FOCUS and DRIVE to an organization that you beleive will be very able to use and benefit by it.
That is what I told the manageing partner when I interviewed, and I had NO Experience at ALL!
It is a VERY dumb question, but when you are Looking for a job, you have to put up with alot of this type of stuff, b/c these are really CANNED questions from HR. FOOEY ON HR! FOOEY!!!
foeey indeed! January 27, 2012 at 4:22 pm
Oh Ellen, FOOEY ON HR! is my life mantra.

"I hope you are a troll."

Interesting that Lourine has acquired a surname initial here...

Lourine P January 25, 2012 at 4:17 pm
You should always buy now because the present value of money is not that much, especially given the zero rate of interest paid out by banks. It will be better to have the tickets in hand now than to wait and risk getting frozen out or worse, getting the seats by the honey can.

I can not go, b/c I live in New York!

karenpadi January 24, 2012 at 4:09 pm
Silicon Valley Corporettes!
We’ll meet-up at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 24th at the Cantor Center on the Stanford Campus in Palo Alto for a free docent-led tour of the Rodin Sculptures. After the tour (12:30pm, maybe? I wasn’t able to contact anyone at the Center for a time), we’ll meet-up at the Cool Cafe for a light lunch/coffee. I’ll plan to hang out until at least 2pm for stragglers.
Interested? You can email me at karenpadi at hotmail and I’ll add you to the list. I’ll send out an email closer to the date.
SF Bay Associate January 24, 2012 at 4:47 pm
Awesome. Thanks Karen!

zora January 24, 2012 at 6:43 pm

Am I at risk, Kat?

I appreciate this one because it seems to imply that Kat is, like, the administrator of the internet. What, is she going to pull Ellen's file on ZAPPOS and check to see if there's been any breach in her credit card info? And then get on the thread to let Ellen know what she found?

Ellen January 18, 2012 at 10:48 am
I would use my first name, then my Initial, if I had one, then my last name. If you eventuaelly get MARRIED, then you can think if you have enough of a repuetation to KEEP your original name. If your man has an unusuesual name, like My Alan did, I would NOT switch. Make sense?
Now what about zappos? I bought shoes ON-LINE. Am I at risk, Kat?

Gosh, I can NOT make March 17.

Endlessly fascinating that Ellen makes  a point of responding to almost all of the meet-up posts, even when, as here, it's for California. To my knowledge, there's never even been any serious proposal of a NYC meetup, and I always wonder if it's because the anticipation/letdown would just be too much.

karenpadi January 18, 2012 at 3:37 pm
Silicon Valley Corporettes! In there any interest in another meet-up?
Confessions January 18, 2012 at 5:39 pm
Yes, I missed the last meet-up and would love to meet our section of the hive!

karenpadi January 18, 2012 at 9:07 pm
OK, by request, I will wait until March. Possibly March 17 (Saturday)?
ESquared January 18, 2012 at 10:28 pm
I want to come too!!!! I was actually looking just for this in the comments the last few weeks.
I just moved here (yay Left my Heart in SF!). Do you guys have a group mailing list or do I just have to read all of the comments obsessively?
karenpadi January 19, 2012 at 1:30 am
No, no mailing list. Once we settle on a date, I’ll ask Kat if she can announce it on the site. Anyone can email me at karenpadi at hotmail and I will send out a email closer to the date.

I would be a wife of a drunk accountant

Ellen January 9, 2012 at 12:03 pm
You MUST go to the best law school….do not rely on the boyfriend in a crappy city and a crappy law school, b/c the boyfirend can go away, leaving you with a crappy law degree in a crappy city. FOOEY!
If I had married Alan, I would be a wife of a drunk accountant that may not keep his CPA b/c of his drinking. FOOEY on that!

almost total ZERO

Ellen says:
I would ALSO like to meet a good one who is NOT a alchoholic. FOOEY! Alan was an almost total ZERO, tho I did enjoy alot THINGS about the relationeship while it lasted.
  • Monday says:
Ellen, you mentioned that you gave your DIGIT’S to two guys at a party over the holidays. I had assumed that they both called early the next morning to ask you out. Did you find out their salaries were inadequate?
    • Ellen says:
No. I want a guy who does NOT just want to sleep with me. To many guys just want sex, not a relationshep. These guys did call but they did not want to get to know me slowly. I want a lawyer. FOOEY.

in the MOVIES with MR MOM

Ellen says:
I think you should be VERY carful before letting DH be the stay at home person. There are alot of women out there that will seem very AVAILEABLE to him if he is around them all day while you are out at WORK.
It is one thing to be in the MOVIES with MR MOM; it is another thing in REALITY.
It may be best to do CHILD Care, and have DH continue to work to bring home the paycheck.
Most peeple do NOT think about it, but God forbid if you ever split up, you do NOT want to have to pay HIM alimony! FOOEY on that!!!! FOOEY!!!

the same as a 2 Karat ring

Unclear who this boyfriend is, as Alan was long gone by this date. Perhaps the alter-ego has an alter-life.

Lourine January 5, 2012 at 2:31 pm
When I was younger, I had a “Day Planner”, but now I rely on my IPOD. It has everything I need and more.
My Boyfriend gave me the IPOD, and he won’t let me forget it. You would think that $299 was the same as a 2 Karat ring, but I keep telling him that’s its not and that is what I want. So far, he has not come up with the 2K ring. In fact the only ring he has ever left for me is the ring he leaves in the bathtub after he bathes.
anon January 5, 2012 at 8:45 pm
Hi, Ellen!
Yvonne January 7, 2012 at 3:35 pm
Well how long have you been asking about the 2Karat ring?? I am wondering what is up with these types of boyfriends these days.

but this is an excepteion.

The following is my only evidence of ROSA, and most of my basis for believing Ellen is blond.
(UPDATE 4-15-12: The new image on this post, or as linked, is a brunette model! FOOEY! I am not including the picture of her because it would be misleading. It's also a different colorway than the original dress. Asos probably just sold out the original and uploaded a new version--featuring a model that does not look like Rosa.)

Ellen January 4, 2012 at 10:47 am
I LOVE it so much!
Also, its Rosa! The model could be my SISTER, Rosa! While she is much slimmer then me, we both have the SAME cheekbone’s and hair.
They say NOT to wear Horizonetal stripes if you want to look slim, but this is an excepteion. I am going to buy 2. One for me, and one for Rosa.
Ellen January 4, 2012 at 10:52 am
FOOEY! All they have is size 2 in stock! FOOEY!
Why is Kat recomending something that only has size 2′s availeble.
I will only get 1 for Rosa. She is a size 2. I am a size 6. FOOEY!

I'm staying neutral on this one! (See contestation, bottom)

Lourine January 3, 2012 at 2:47 pm
My Resolution is to get MARRIED this year. and NOT to let a guy sleep with me without a ring.
Very easy to say, very HARD to execute.
