Even the judges on the Supreme Court wear Scrunchies.

Ellen January 27, 2011 at 1:32 pm
I found a set of 5 color-coordinated Scrunchies on sale at the new TARGET for only $19.95.
They come in GREEN, BLACK, WHITE, PINK and YELLOW.
The manageing partner likes to see my face, so I usually wear Scrunchies at the office.
Sometimes, when I want to work in the library WITHOUT being disturbed, I take the Scrunchie off, so my hair is DOWN, but most of the time I wear a Scrunchie.
I also wear the Scrunchie after work when I go to work out at the gym. They are VERY handy to keep my hair away from my face and the machines, too.
Go with the Scrunchie. It is MUCH more professional. Even the judges on the Supreme Court wear Scrunchies.

Kady January 27, 2011 at 2:00 pm
LOL!
Nonny January 27, 2011 at 2:13 pm
I feel like someone should be compiling a book of these for posterity…
EG January 27, 2011 at 2:21 pm
Ah, here we go. Needed this on a snowy day. Also need Ellen to meet Sarah Jessica Parker for the Scrunchie conversation.
K January 27, 2011 at 4:45 pm
That was my exact thought when I read it! I was replaying that entire scene in my mind :)
AIMS January 27, 2011 at 2:22 pm
Ellen’s right. Ruth Bader Ginsburg totally wears scrunchies!
surrounded by lawyers January 27, 2011 at 2:27 pm
As does Scalia.
v January 27, 2011 at 2:54 pm
Best mental image ever! Anyone talented with photoshop?
Lola January 27, 2011 at 5:06 pm
When you’re Ruth Bader Ginsburg, you can do whatever the heck you want.
Kaye January 27, 2011 at 4:04 pm
Purple would be better though.
Anonymous January 27, 2011 at 4:20 pm
Oh Ellen, I didn’t REALIZE until just now how much I missed your comments. Please TRY not too stay AWAY for so long.
Anon in the Snow January 27, 2011 at 4:33 pm
Wow. I guess I am the only one who thinks Scrunchies are for teens.
Anonymous January 27, 2011 at 5:35 pm
Scrunchies should not be worn by anyone, but Ellen is our favorite troll so we like to indulge her. I’m certain 99% of the people on this site agree that professional women should not wear scrunchies.
Anonymous January 28, 2011 at 12:30 pm
Troll? Take that back; he’s a bona fide community member now. He’s the only reason I read the comments here anymore.

HYPENETING our names to become “Sheketovits-Barshevsky”

Ellen was manageing her expectations for the relationship with Alan from the beginning...

Ellen January 25, 2011 at 6:45 pm
I will NEVER change my name after I get MARRIED, so that if I EVER get divorced, I will NOT have that problem. Even though I love Alan dearly, he has a very unusual name (Sheketovits), and my last name is much preferable to his (Barshevsky).
When we talk about this, he wanted me to change my name so I said how about YOU taking MY name, and he said no.
So we then said how about HYPENETING our names to become “Sheketovits-Barshevsky”, but I prefer “Barshevsky-Sheketovits”, but this would NOT be good for our children, as the SAT does not have this many spaces on their forms.
So it is JUST going to be Barshevsky for me, and Sheketovits for him. That way, if I ever catch him cheating, and divorce him, I will not have to get rid of his name.
Down with trolls January 25, 2011 at 7:30 pm
Barshevsky-Sheketovits LOL. At least there is no question now that Ellen is a troll or at least a troll is masquerading as Ellen! But Alan Sheketovits or whatever his name is sure is active as a troll on the ABA-type blogs!

moved to a shabby smaller windowless space

Ellen January 24, 2011 at 8:32 pm
Threadjack, please! I JUST got back from a vacation with Alan and I found out that my office was moved to a shabby smaller windowless space at the end of the hall. How should IHANDLE this? The manageing partner says he needed my office for a new partner, but he is not EVEN there yet. I do not want to loose my job by being to pushy. I do like my job alot, but do feel like they are treating me badly. Can anyone advice me? Thank you.
See Pea A January 24, 2011 at 8:59 pm
just be thankful you have an office and not a cubicle! Put up a picture of “alan” on the wall and be thankful you have a job
North Shore January 24, 2011 at 9:45 pm
The alot is happy to hear that you like your job, Ellen.
FinanceGal January 24, 2011 at 10:04 pm
The alot takes a strong interest in many tales of joy and woe. He is a caring alot.
Midori January 25, 2011 at 3:06 pm
North Shore, I love you.
Anon January 24, 2011 at 11:53 pm
Look on the bright side, maybe the BALD partner with the BAD BREATH won’t be able to FIND you anymore!
Kaye January 25, 2011 at 1:46 am
Sounds rough :( Go have a martini or five to help you cope, and then maybe write the managing partner an email letting him know how you feel?
Anonymous January 25, 2011 at 12:28 pm

but would perfer it in another color.

"Perfer" is very consistent spelling. Also, some of these comments following get two major thumbs up.

Wilma January 20, 2011 at 2:04 pm
I LOVE this blouse, but would perfer it in another color. My boyfriend got me a green chemise for the holidays, and I look absoluely divine in it (he said that, not me). He paid only $75 at a boutique in New York City. I hope to be able to get the matching jacket for VALENTINE’s day, b/c he IS my boyfriend and I give him things, too.
I need to find a wool skirt that has a silk lining in green to go with my blouse. Does anyone know where I can get something cute in a size 6?
Anon January 20, 2011 at 2:06 pm
Uh oh. ALLEN IS BACK!
AIMS January 20, 2011 at 2:26 pm
I hope Ellen knows Allen is CHEATING on her with Wilma!!
What scandolous phooey.
surrounded by lawyers January 20, 2011 at 2:50 pm
Isn’t Ellen also cheating on Allen–with the MANAGEING PARTNER who has BAD BREATH?
AIMS January 20, 2011 at 3:06 pm
Only in MANAGEING PARTNER’s dreams ;)
Laura January 20, 2011 at 2:31 pm
Although admittedly in a *slightly* more convincing form. As in, I wasn’t certain until sentence two.
academicsocialite January 20, 2011 at 2:30 pm
I’m sure this fantastic boyfriend picked out a chemise that would accentuate the bodice, the lucky girl!
Kady January 20, 2011 at 3:52 pm
LOL. Why in the world would a girl need to have the lining of her skirt match her blouse? Maybe she’s in fact thinking of showing said lining to the MANAGEING PARTNER!
AEK January 20, 2011 at 4:18 pm
Ew, no way. He is BALD and he’s always STAREING at her!
Ru January 20, 2011 at 5:38 pm
LOL, u gals are HILARIOUS!
Nonny January 20, 2011 at 6:39 pm
This just made my crappy day so much better!
mamabear January 20, 2011 at 7:14 pm
OMG I hopped on the giggle train reading Another Sarah’s review above, and now I can’t get off! I may have to leave my office. Clever women can be so funny!

sexy names for females, and masculine names for men

Do we have additional "Wilma" posts, folks? At any rate, this seems further to confirm that Ellen looks like a blonde movie star one way or another.

Wilma January 19, 2011 at 5:20 pm
Yes, I think neutral names are silly. After all, you cannot tell if it is a man or a woman. There should be sexy names for females, and masculine names for men.
Even the name Kit is questionable. Men are named Kit, and so are women. But Kit is not feminine. It is also a neutral name. Many guys named Kit I know are gay.
You can be androgenus, or asexual with a neutral name. But you should NOT be homosexual.
My name is very feminine, and I look like Gwynneth Paltrow on a good day. I am the only Wilma I know, and I am a NY attorney.
d January 19, 2011 at 7:01 pm
Kat, what is up with this?
Anon for this January 19, 2011 at 7:30 pm
I think Ellen/Alan (sorry if I’m spelling that wrong–I’m not going back through earlier comments in other threads to check it) got a name change!
anotheranon January 19, 2011 at 7:22 pm
Sorry, can’t help it, but this post just had me cracking up.
Wow January 19, 2011 at 7:24 pm
