[SSG2 having a sane moment]

I just can't see a Sunshine Girl comment on Corporette without noteing it here--it doesn't feel right. And yet there's actually nothing too weird about this advice. Nothing too substantive either, but.

I'm actually kind of proud of these alleged jaded spinsters for encouraging optimism and risk among the younger gals. They really don't deserve any bum rap from lower associate rank's and/or old married partners.

The key is not to presume anything and just “lean in”. The fact that you are younger should not be viewed as a liability. Many older men and women are happy to connect with younger peers. As long as you are up front and professional, do not think it is out of bounds to reach out to them. I am sure they will appreciate your efforts. And good luck to you!

  1. We are famous, and we do not even hold a candle, in terms of human interest, to Ellen, but thank you. As to the jaded spinster characterization, we can assure you we are not spinsters by choice. Having been deceived by cunning NY lawyers cognizant in the law of promissory estoppel, we have been left without even a cause of action for breach of promise to marry, as these partners never formally offered us marriage, but only the prospect thereof. Were we in another state, we might well have a colorable claim, but here, all we are left with is our dignity.

    1. You are indeed famous. Dignity is nothing to fooey at, and neither is literary agility like y'all's. Thank you as always for your wise input.

  2. Those women claimed to have retained their dignity but they did not retain their hymens after their afternoon interludes with the partners.

    1. Mind your own business, Vinnie, and remember they have the seniority to assign you all the worst cases or torpedo your billables for the year.
